A few weeks before the opening of my concept store, I had the pleasure of meeting the kind Marie, and I instantly loved our conversation. Marie has been running Mellipou since 2008, and what a success story it is! With a background as a professional dancer performing on Parisian stages and TV sets for fifteen years, Marie’s life has always been guided by music.

When she became a mom-to-be, she struggled to find a music box that would soothe her daughter—and when she couldn’t find one she loved, she created her own. That bold idea gave birth to Mellipou: a playful cloud-shaped music box with Michael Jackson’s Thriller as a lullaby. It was daring, original, and an immediate hit! Parents fell in love because, finally, there were music boxes that also delighted adult ears. Since then, Mellipou has become synonymous with original, modern lullabies—from Game of Thrones to Harry Potter, Dirty Dancing to Stevie Wonder—bringing joy to babies and their parents alike.

What makes Mellipou even more special is that all products are handmade in France and eco-responsible. Materials are sourced locally whenever possible, or from Portugal, and everything is made to order, avoiding overproduction. Safety is a priority: no toxic substances or harmful dyes are used, and even the breastfeeding cushions are made from natural fibers, free from endocrine disruptors.
